Diana Magaloni Kerpel

The Colors of the New World: The Florentine Codex and the Birth of Mexico

Diana Magaloni is an art historian, author, conservationist, and curator. She currently holds the title of Deputy Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) where she serves as director of the Art Program of Ancient America, and as Director of Conservation. She was director of the National Museum of Anthropology (2009–2013) and has worked as a researcher and professor at the Institute of Aesthetic Research of the UNAM since 1991, where she specialized in indigenous representation modes and in the nature and meaning of the materials used to create wall paintings and codices.
