Mercedes Lopez Martinez

Advocate for ancestral corn and climate change and regenerative projects.

As the director of Via Organica and the Organic Consumer’s Association in Mexico
City, Mercedes is a passionate writer and speaker on regenerative topics such as
ancestral corn, climate change and in particular educating indigenous and farming
communities in Mexico. She is also the representative for the Demanda Colectivs
contra el Maiz Transgrnico, an organization which champions the protection of
native and ancestral corn varieties and an end to transgenic corn farming in
Mexico. She holds a doctorate Latin American studies from UNAM.
She is a prominent voice at world conferences on climate change such as COP 21,
COP 22, COP 24, COP 13 as well as throughout Latin America.
